Christians who fled Iraq in recent years are being encouraged to return by the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Al-Kazemi has met with Cardinal Louis Raphael I Sako, the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch, and other bishops in Baghdad. Cardinal Raphael said there are many Christians who wish to return.
“Iraq is the country for everyone, and that Christians are the original children of the country, and there is no difference between the people of the same country, as everyone is a partner in building the future of Iraq.”
Mustafa Al-Kazemi
Security is the primary issue and the new Prime Minister, who took over May 7, pledges assistance. He said he and all Iraqis yearn for a new Iraq that believes in peace and rejects violence.
It was the invasion of ISIS in 2014 that almost eradicated Christianity in Iraq. Despite promises, Christians are fearful.
Please pray for peace, justice and for God’s will to be done!
