Despite the truth of St. Serra’s life of evangelizing and defending the rights of indigenous peoples, statues of the saint have become focal points for protests and riots across California.
The Ventura city Council voted 6-0 to remove a bronze statue from outside city hall and a wooden replica inside the building, despite the Pope and the Vatican’s defense of the Saint’s actual record.

Man drives car into Florida church, sets it on fire with parishioners still inside

The Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies said a man drove his car into the front doors of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and lit a fire while parishioners were inside.
After a brief car chase, the man was arrested. Only part of the church as damaged and everyone got out safely.

The Archbishop of Miami said the desecration of the statue of Christ should be treated as an act of hatred for the Church and faith.

Police were called to a fire at St. Peter’s Parish in Boston, at around 10 p.m. on July 11. Police confirmed that a statue of the Blessed Virgin, located outside the church had been set on fire and suffered damage.
On July 10, the Diocese of Brooklyn announced that New York City police were investigating the vandalization of a statue of the Virgin Mary at Cathedral Prep School and Seminary in Queens.
The 100-year-old statue had the word “IDOL” painted down its length. Fr. James Kuroly, of Cathedral Prep, called the incident “an act of hatred.”

A volunteer working at the french Cathedral started three fires in an attempt to destroy the historic site. The investigation is ongoing.
