Two recent judgements will hurt Catholics going forward.
According to some of his peers, Justice Neil Gorsuch gets “textualism” wrong by redefining sex to include sexual orientation and gender identity. This could very well lead to legal persecution for Catholics, Christians and churches not deemed LGBT-friendly enough.
In another mistake, SCOTUS declared unconstitutional a Louisiana law requiring doctors committing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. Despite the fact that a nearly identical law is in effect in neighboring Texas, the court still failed women and children.
This means in LA, you don’t have to be a “real” doctor to kill children, or operate in safe facilities.

Three of five people kidnapped and murdered in an online video were known Christian aid workers, said the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) are responsible for the atrocities. The ISWAP is a breakaway group of Boko Haram, another Islamic extremist terrorist outfit.

Suman Munda, a 25-year-old Christian woman was harassed and then murdered for her faith in Redhadi, India. She is the fifth victim of such a crime in two months.

Bishops urge a negative vote on a bill that would report on the New York’s pro-life pregnancy centers, claiming its wording shows an inherent bias against the pregnancy centers.
Remember in your prayers that the state of New York is one of the most pro-abortion in the nation. Any studies of pro-life pregnancy centers will most likely be used to limit their mission of saving children’s lives.

The Chinese government continues its crackdown on churches. Chinese Christians receiving CCP financial assistance must replace religious symbols and pictures of Christ with those of Mao, or lose the money.

The parish where Fr. Michael McGivney (who is on his way to Sainthood) served, St. Mary’s Parish in New Haven, was deliberately vandalized. St. Mary’s was the city’s first parish, founded in 1877. Also significant is that Fr. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus there in 1882.
The Knights were started as a response to anti-Catholic bigotry in the 1800s, and to protect families, widows and orphans of the parish. Fr. McGivney is scheduled to be Beatified this Oct. 31!

Chorbishop Felix Dawood Al Shabi will take office as bishop of Zakho in his new mission in a strategic area of Iraqi Kurdistan.
The area has not had a bishop in a decade!
